Operating Schedule Changes at Garland Transfer Station
With the re-opening of the Transfer Station, located at 1434 Commerce St., Environmental Waste Services announces that the disposal facility’s new operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on Saturdays.
“The volume of waste received from residents on Saturdays no longer warrants having both the Transfer Station and Landfill facilities open,” explained Lonnie Banks, Environmental Waste Services Managing Director. “While the Transfer Station will be closed on Saturdays, the C.M. Hinton, Jr. Regional Landfill, located at 3175 Elm Grove Rd., in Rowlett, will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for residents needing to dispose of waste materials.” Garland residents should bring current driver’s license or recent City water bill as proof of residency.
Please note that the Drop-Off Recycling Center, located at 1426 Commerce St., will remain open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., as well as Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents can drop off newspaper and magazines, cardboard, cans, plastic bottles, glass jars, telephone books, used motor oil and transmission fluid, used oil filters, auto and truck batteries and scrap metal.
